The HTC Touch Pro can now be pre-ordered in the UK as a SIM free handset.

The HTC Touch Pro is the big daddy to the HTC Touch Diamond and has been eagerly anticipated by the Windows Mobile smartphone community as it has everything the HTC Touch Diamond does as well as a full slide out Qwerty keyboard, larger battery and a memory card slot. The slide QWERTY keyboard has 5 rows of keys to make light work of typing-intensive tasks like composing email or working on Microsoft Office® documents perfect for when your day takes a serious turn.

The HTC Touch Pro was codename the HTC Raphael during devlopment and will be known as the MDA Vario IV on the T Mobile network with other networks yet to confirm their names.

The HTC Touch Pro isn’t as pocketable as the HTC Touch diamond due to it’s Qwerty keyboard but the it’s dimensions (w x h x d): 51 x 102 x 18.05 millimetres , 2 x 4 x 0.7 inches and weight of 165 grams (battery included) but is still the best all round Windows mobile device out currently in our opinion.

The only other challenger could be the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 which is due to hit the UK sometime in September / October according to the latest reports…

The HTC Diamond is expected this month has now been released on Orange contracts here and will also be known as the MDA Compact IV on T-Mobile.

This version of the HTC Touch Diamond is slightly different to the o2 XDA Diamond and HTC Touch Diamond as it has nicely rounded edges and it weighs less - only 98g compared to the 110g of the other two models.

Apart from this and a few minor cosmetic changes, all three devices are near identical.
